COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENTS

Groups and programs in my community that I am involved in.

Peer Group

Princeton Day School

Peer Group leaders are committed to reaching their potential as a peer mentor, role model and good citizen of the PDS community. As a PG leader, I teach, guide, and form bonds with freshmen as they transition to high school. In collaboration with two other PG leaders, I teach lessons on inclusivity, mental health, and morals, and organize retreats with the freshmen.

Computer Science and Technology Club

Princeton Day School

I am President of Princeton Day School's computer science club with over 50 members. Together, we build projects for the community, commission gigs, host tech workshops for beginners, and attend competitions.

We also bring speakers, hold discussions on the role of tech in our society, and host community-wide tech events like Women in STEM, Hour of Code, and Compsci Education week. PantherHack, our school’s hackathon, is organized by our club members.

PantherHack

Princeton Day School

For the past two years, I’ve led a team of over 20 students to organize PantherHack at PDS. For the event, I emailed companies ranging from local startups to billion-dollar unicorns for sponsorship, reached out to schools from the tri-state area to San Francisco, hosted workshops, and obtained speakers from prestigious universities, the US Department of Defense, and Google.

In PantherHack2022, over 400 people competed for $23,000 in prizes. By creating PantherHack, I’ve worked with and befriended amazing people and paved a path for younger students to start their tech journey. I’m excited to make PantherHack2023 even bigger and continue to make an impact on my community by organizing hackathons in college.

Volunteer

The Watershed Institute

I regularly volunteer at the Stonybrook Millstone Watershed Institute and help run their many engaging events related to sustainability and water conservation. I also educate kids on climate change during events, assist employees, manage the institute, and clean local areas. This is a photo from the Fairy Festival.

Muslim Student Association

Princeton Day School

I am a cohead for the Muslim Student Association affinity group. We create a safe space for muslims to talk about religion, Islamophobia, and current events regarding Islam. Additionally, we bring speakers, commission events for Eid, and have praying sessions.

Energy and Climate Scholars

Princeton University & Princeton Day School

Energy and Climate Scholars is a partnership between Princeton University and Princeton Day School. I collaborated with Princeton Graduate students to discuss environmental engineering, eco justice, current events, and the role of individuals and corporations in creating a green future. As a final project, I created a blog about novel energy breakthroughs in tech and how people help the cause.
